10 Critical Warning Signs
If you observe any of the following warning signs at a Chicago-area clinic, walk away immediately:
- 1. Injections performed in non-clinical environments (homes, private parties, nail salons).

- 3. Staff cannot name the Medical Director or give you the license details you need to verify the license.
- 4. Injections brought into the room already drawn up in the syringe.
- 5. Refusal to show the authentic packaging, lot number, or expiration date.

- 7. High-pressure sales tactics for expensive multi-treatment packages.
- 8. Social media photos heavily modified with beauty filters and digital smoothing.
- 9. The clinic offers hyaluronic acid filler but does not keep hyaluronidase on site. The enzyme is used off-label to dissolve that filler (Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology), and published guidance describes repeat high-dose injections of it for a suspected blood vessel blockage.
- 10. No 24-hour medical contact provided for post-procedure complications.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are pre-drawn syringes dangerous?
When a syringe is brought into the room already drawn, you cannot see which product is inside or how it was prepared, or check its packaging, lot number and expiration date. Ask for the product to be opened and drawn up in front of you.
