What Changes the Cost of Lip Filler in Chicago

Choosing a Lip Filler Injector in Chicago
According to the IDFPR and IDPH memo on medical spa services, physicians may perform cosmetic injections and delegate them, registered nurses may inject under physician delegation, and nurse practitioners (APRNs) with full practice authority may practice without a written collaborative agreement. Physician assistants need a written collaborative agreement under the Physician Assistant Practice Act.
The IDFPR Statement on Prohibited Practices lists Botox and collagen injections as the practice of medicine, outside the scope of cosmetologists and estheticians. Hyaluronic acid fillers are not named separately on that list, but the statement also bars cosmetologists and estheticians from any technique, product, or practice intended to affect the living layers of the skin.

Does lip filler hurt?
Most patients experience mild discomfort. Topical numbing cream is often applied for 20 to 30 minutes beforehand, and most modern hyaluronic acid lip fillers from the Juvederm and Restylane lines contain lidocaine to numb the lips as they are injected. Ask your injector whether your product does.
Can lip filler be dissolved if I don't like the result?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid lip filler can be broken down with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, which is an off-label use of the enzyme (Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, 2025). It starts working within hours: a laboratory study identified a minimum single dose that fully dissolved each of 22 hyaluronic acid fillers within 6 hours, and clinical guidance describes most breakdown within 6 to 12 hours, with further breakdown over the following 24 to 72 hours depending on the filler (in vitro dose study; review of hyaluronidase use). Ask whether your clinic keeps hyaluronidase on site.
